Exchange Visitor Scholar Request

Wilson College OHR requires at least a 90-day lead on exchange visitor scholar requests. Please complete the form below as soon as you have confirmed with the exchange visitor scholar that you will be able to host them for an appointment at NC State University.

After the request is submitted, an email will be sent to Wilson College OHR (Textiles-HR@ncsu.edu). Once reviewed, the request will route to unit lead approval followed by Budget Office approval. If approved, OHR will initiate the exchange visitor scholar application and reach out to the scholar regarding the required documents. The faculty sponsor will be copied on all communications from OHR to the exchange visitor scholar.

Please select the primary source of funding for the exchange visitor.
By federal regulation to issue a visa, the exchange visitor must provide proof of sufficient funding for the full length of the visa (i.e., proposed dates of appointment). The current minimum amount of funding required to cover living expenses and health insurance is as follows: $2000/month for the exchange visitor, $900/month for the first dependent, and $500/month for each additional dependent.

English Proficiency Interview

As the faculty advisor, you must certify that the exchange visitor possesses sufficient proficiency in the English language to carry out day-to-day duties. To do this, you must complete an interview with the exchange visitor to confirm their English proficiency. Export Control Information

We are required to answer the following questions concerning each exchange visitor before visa documents can be produced by the Office of International Services.
Will any confidential or proprietary information, materials, or software be shared with the exchange visitor?
Will the exchange visitor bring or supply any proprietary information, materials, or software to NC State?
Will the exchange visitor be exposed to equipment that was specially designed for military applications (e.g. night vision cameras, satellite technology, Y-code GPS, etc.)?
Will the exchange visitor need to understand how a piece of laboratory equipment is designed, manufactured, or repaired in the course of his/her research?
Will the exchange visitor be exposed to encryption software source code, or otherwise involved in the design, development, or production of encryption software?
