The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FASAP) at NC State provides support, resources and information for personal and work-life issues. The FASAP program is university-sponsored, confidential and provided at no charge to you and your dependents.

As part of the onboarding process, you will be provided with a list of required and optional trainings. These trainings may be department-level or university-wide trainings. Additionally, Wilson College’s Office of Human Resources, Business Office and Research Office offer regular trainings on topics varying from student employment to basic account management to mindfulness.
University trainings are often provided online via Reporter.

A tuition waiver allows full-time benefits eligible employees to enroll tuition-free in courses within the UNC system. Employees are entitled to take three courses per academic year, including the corresponding summer sessions. Courses taken under the tuition waiver program do not have to be job related, but must have supervisory approval. Forms must be completed and signed by your immediate supervisor and approved by your director before submitting them to the Cashier’s Office. Forms can be obtained online and from the Cashier’s Office. 

The Nonwovens Institute (NWI) is the world’s first accredited academic program for the interdisciplinary field of engineered fabrics. Based at the Centennial Campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, the NWI is an innovative global partnership between industry, government, and academe. Operating on an “Open Innovation” platform, the Nonwovens Institute engages experts from industry and higher education in building next-generation nonwoven applications while also providing training and guidance to the field’s future leaders.

The Textile Protection and Comfort Center (TPACC) provides faculty and students with a coordinated environment where interdisciplinary problems related to textile comfort and protection performance can be studied and solved. The major goal is to support basic and applied research programs which will develop fundamental knowledge and will be the basis for improved performance in comfort for clothing and protective clothing systems in various end use scenarios. The Center serves as a nucleus of activity for coordinating and managing diverse research projects in the area of combined textile comfort and protection. It draws on and unites the expertise of a diverse group of faculty and staff in order to utilize emerging technology and testing methodologies to strengthen the Nation’s position in textile materials science, technology and industrial development.

Zeis Textiles Extension for Economic Development, known familiarly as Zeis Textiles Extension or ZTE, provides training and certification in textiles and Lean Six Sigma, and serves the textile industry’s prototyping and pilot production needs in its five laboratories – spun yarn, knitting, weaving, dyeing and finishing, and physical testing. We serve a diverse customer base to advance economic development through collaborative partnerships and outreach, innovative textile and quality improvement education, and comprehensive textile prototyping and testing services. Our vision is to be a global extension leader in textile and quality improvement education, research and service to accelerate economic development.
